Boockmann Engineering GmbH offers effective processes, machinery and consumables for surface cleaning and finishing of wires, cables and strands.
Boockmann Engineering GmbH, today, offers effective processes, machinery and consumables for surface cleaning and finishing of wire and cable.
The German family business was founded in 1982 as a trading, representation and consulting company in the fields of magnet wire enamels and secondary insulation materials.
Since 1991, the company was gradually transformed into a globally acting manufacturer of machines and consumables for the wire and cable industry with large production depth.
It has grown steadily to 46 employees, generating a turnover of ~ 3.7 million € on an area of ~ 3,400 m2 nowadays.
The design department develops the machines, including their controls, for customers and the manufacturing equipment for the company's own needs.
Our application technology supports customers in process development, commissioning and long-term maintenance of the equipment supplied.
Additionally, we operate a chemical laboratory with a wide range of analysis options to support material development.

Boockmann will present their HELICORD® technology for wire and cable surface processing and welding wire finishing as well as HELILUB® technology for precision solvent-free lubrication of magnet wire. The HELICORD® principle is based on friction between a fast-moving wire and a textile cord wound around a wire, strand or insulated cable multiple times, moving rather slowly under push-pull-controlled conditions. This creates a multiple 360° contact between a constantly renewed cleaning or coating medium (i. e. the cord) and the wire. Since friction energy per wire surface unit and thus the cleaning efficiency are independent of the wire speed HELICORD® can be run at drawing speeds. Successful industrial applications are misprint removal from cable, removal of drawing lubricants and metal particles from e.g. strands for high frequency and submarine cables before extrusion, and welding wire finishing with simultaneous coating and removal of particles and drawing lubricant residues.
HELILUB® equipment for high-precision, solvent-free magnet wire lubrication comprises of applicators
- NB52G1 for warm wire (well above melting temp. of the lubricant)
- NB53G6 for “cold” wire (close to or slightly below melting temp. of the lubricant)
- NB53G0 for fine and ultra-fine wire
and optional control boxes, if the applicators cannot be integrated into the control of the enamelling line.
We offer yarns containing different amounts and types of lubricant for a wide range of applications.
HELICORD® technology provides surface preparation of wire, cable and strands with standard and customized machines for a wide range of applications.
Cleaning by grinding, polishing or wiping is provided as well as metered coating with lubricants, anti-corrosives, adhesives, separating agents etc. or suitable combinations thereof.
We also supply the required, application-specific cords of different type and strength, optionally coated or pre-impregnated with suitable functional components.
Boockmann offers a compact device for a quick and easy measurement of the static coefficient of friction, allowing fast judgement of production conditions and parameters.
The measuring principle is based on the start of gliding on an inclination plane whose angle is successively increased starting from zero.
Two sections of a wire sample are clamped in a sliding plate and a inclination plate for this purpose, and the sliding plate is placed on the inclination plate so that the wire pairs cross.
